Experience the delights of Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario on this wonderful itinerary. The first part of the holiday is spent in Nova Scotia, with time in Halifax before picking up a car and driving the Cabot Trail, one of the most scenic drives in the world.

We then travel onboard VIA Rail (Sleeper Plus & Business Class) stopping at Montreal and Ottawa before reaching Toronto, where you visit the magnificent Niagara Falls.

Day 2 - Peggy's Cove Tour

Today we have included a tour of Peggy's Cove, one of Canada's most famous lighthouses.

Duration: 3.5 hours Peggy's Cove has been an artist and explorers paradise for well over 150 years. This picture postcard village, on the rugged Atlantic shoreline, stands on solid rock above the crashing surf. The lighthouse, the only one in North America to have a post office within it, is the most photographed lighthouse in the world. Enjoy some free time to exploring the rocks, the trails, the village and the gift shops.

Day 3 - Halifax to Baddeck

Leisurely morning before picking up your hire car for your journey to Cape Breton Island, a little piece of Scotland in North America. Arrive in Baddeck to spend the evening at your leisure.

Day 4 - Cabot Trail

Relax in Baddeck or drive the famous Cabot Trail - Cape Breton Highlands National Park is known for its spectacular highlands and ocean scenery. Accessible via the famous Cabot Trail, the park offers many treasures and extraordinary experiences. This morning drive towards Ingonish and visit Cape Breton Highlands National Park visitor center to start your 2-day Cabot Trail adventure. There are 26 beautiful hiking trails in the National Park, ranging from easy strolls to challenging climbs – they all lead to panoramic views of canyons, highlands and the coast. The most recommended one would be the Skyline Trail which is located about a 15-minute drive from the Cheticamp park entrance. Along the way visit the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre Route 19 Judique (approx. 25 minutes from causeway) or the Glenora Distillery Route 19/ Ceilidh Trail, Glenville (between Inverness and Mabou, about 30 minutes from Judique). Other stops may include the Acadian Cultural Center & Museum (Les Trois Pignons) or St. Ann’s Gaelic College of Arts & Crafts

Day 7 - Liscombe Mills to Halifax

Depart this morning for Halifax where you will drop off your hire car and spend the afternoon at your leisure. We highly recommend you take a stroll along the Waterfront Boardwalk, take in the scenery, stop for a bite to eat - fish restaurants are very popular here along with Alexander Keith's Brewery.

Day 8 - VIA Rail Sleeper Plus Service Halifax to Montreal

This morning depart onboard VIA Rail bound for Montreal. 

On VIA Rail’s Ocean Route you will cross over the Maritimes in one day. Boarding in Halifax, Nova Scotia you will travel alongside the Atlantic Ocean, through Nova Scotia before reaching you second Atlantic Canada province New Brunswick. As night begins to fall you will travel along the coast of Baie-des-Chaleurs, located on the boarder of New Brunswick and Quebec. After crossing over to Quebec the train will begin to follow the St Lawerence River, as the sun begins to rise the following morning you will find yourself in the Monteregian Hills before arriving in downtown Montreal.

Overnight on VIA Rail. (lunch and dinner is included today)

Arrive in Montreal this morning, make your way to your hotel. We have included a Hop on Hop off Sightseeing pass to help you take in the best of this beautiful city.

Day 10 - Montreal - Quebec City Tour - Montreal

Duration: 12 hours This all-day tour, guided to and from Quebec City, includes your return transportation and sightseeing tour in Quebec with a local licensed guide. This tour will take you back more than 400 years to the historic landmark of the French regime. You will be charmed by the old world atmosphere of Quebec City with its narrow streets, steep hills and numerous historical treasures on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. In the Fall / Winter season, the tour includes a photo stop at Montmorency Falls -- higher than Niagara Falls!

Day 11 - VIA Rail Business Class Service Montreal to Ottawa

Travel business class with VIA Rail from Montreal to Ottawa. 

Departing from Central Station in the heart of downtown Montreal today, cross the Ottawa River into Ontario for your journey into the nation's vibrant capital city. A rail journey of just under four hours, you'll travel through rural Ontario's maple forests and pastureland as you approach Ottawa, a city regarded for its grand Victorian architecture and museums such as the National Gallery of Canada. The train will arrive to Ottawa Station, just east of downtown.

Today take advantage of the Ottawa City Tour

Experience Ottawa’s original and most comprehensive Hop-on-Hop-off City Tour aboard one of our London Style open top Double Deckers or turn of the century Trolleys. Tour officially starts on the corner of Sparks and Metcalf Streets, however one can hop on at any of over 15 stops located throughout the National Capital Region. Your ticket is valid for two days, which allows you to tour our Nation’s Capital at your own pace, or join us for a two hour fully narrated tour. The City Tour runs in a continuous circle daily, from 10:00am until 3:00pm.

Day 13 - VIA Rail Business Class Service Ottawa to Toronto

Travel VIA Rail business class service from Ottawa to Toronto.

Departing the nation's capital of Ottawa today, board the VIA Rail train bound for Toronto, Canada's largest city. Traveling out of Ottawa you'll enjoy views of Ontario's small villages and scattered maple forests, then the train will pass Trenton Junction and travel along the shores of Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Your journey will take approximately four hours, arriving to Toronto at Union Station. Known as Canada's busiest transport hub, approximately 250,000 visitors pass through Union Station every day.

Day 14 - Toronto - Niagara Falls Day Tour

Today we have a full day excursion, visiting the magnificent Niagara Falls:

Travel on our air-conditioned motorcoach for a breathtaking, full-day tour through the orchard-laden Niagara Peninsula to Niagara Falls, one of the great wonders of the world.
