Bali & Lombok Off The Beaten Track

Whilst these two beautiful Islands are well known for their beautiful beaches, theres so much more on offer.

This tour will take you behind the scenes of the beachfront location and will allow you to meet and interact with the local people, learning about the food and the culture of the region. Try your hand at rice farming and get a chance to interact with some English teaching at a local scool. Your culinary skills will also be improved with an Indonesian cooking demonstration.

Day 1 - Bali

Upon arrival at Ngurah Rai international airport you will be met by a guides and transferred to your hotel in Ubud area.

Day 2 - Ubud

After transfer to Pejeng village for a Pejeng community center activity. At the end of asphalt road, start to walk along rice field and visit some farms along the road for your introduction to traditional organic farming then enjoy a cooking class making jamu till lunch time. Afterward have your home-made lunch at the site then enjoy some free time for you to go back to your hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 - Ubud - Munduk

This morning you, guide will pick you up at hotel lobby and will transfer to the local village. Upon reaching the village, start with a visit to the village home base. Prepare for a farming activity by donning a farmer's hat, covering up with mosquito repellent and picking up a local mattock (small farm tool) all provided by the farm. We recommend wearing flip-flops or similar as well as bringing sunscreen. You'll then walk with the local farmers to their rice fields, locally called ‘sawah’. Alongside the farmers, you will learn how to plant, transplant or harvest rice (depending of the season). Afterwards transfer to Munduk for the night. Lunch is included.

Day 4 - Munduk - West Bali

Leave the hotel after breakfast, then transfer to the Pekutatan area with stop at Munduk waterfall before continuing to your hotel in West Bali

Day 6 - West Bali - South Bali

After breakfast, stravel to the Pulukan Ecotourism State Plantation of Pekutatan Village where you will discover rubber trees, coconut and banana plantations, clove and vanilla trees. The process to make rubber will be shown and explained to you. Lunch will be served at 300m altitude with a stunning view on the rice fields and the ocean. Afterwards transfer to South Bali.

Day 8 - Bali - Lombok

ake a transfer to the airport for your short flight to Lombok (GA450 11:40 – 12:35), on arrival you will be transferred to your hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 9 - Lombok

Known as Indonesia’s ‘Island of thousand mosques,’ Lombok is surrounded by pristine beaches and unspoilt small islands. Sasak children in the small villages of Lombok are eager to learn English, but there are few local teachers with good English skills available. join a teach activity for very young children with no English knowledge and older children with some English knowledge in Banyumulek. Attending this philanthropic language class affords a unique way to engage with Sasak community and learn more about Lombok’s largest ethnic group.

Day 10 - Lombok

Beyond Mataram, create traditional Sasak dishes, while experiencing Bonjeruk village life and giving back to the community. Our chef for the day accompanies us around a private organic farm, where we learn how farmers tend and harvest their various crops. Continue to a nearby local village. Guided by the local person, we engage with the villagers, observe local daily activities and hand-select fresh ingredients from a private organic farm. As a goodwill gesture for the village hospitality, we donate a basket of goods to a village representative. Returning to the farm, your chef conducts a bespoke hands-on cooking class, teaching you how to make a Sasak lunch, enjoyed at the farm area. Afterwards return to your hotel.
