Argentina and Brazil, The Highlights.

Day 1 - Buenos Aires

Welcome to Buenos Aires. You are met on arrival and driven to your hotel in a private vehicle with a bilingual guide, with all porterage tips taken care of along the way.

Day 2 - Buenos Aires Walking Tour and Tango Diner

Explore the city's grand boulevards, leafy plazas and elegant architecture, echoes of Paris, on a leisurely three hour walking tour. In the evening, enjoy a three course dinner and a VIP tango show at the historic Café de los Angelitos, complete with live quintet and five dance couples, plus private return transfers.

Day 3 - Buenos Aires

A day at leisure to explore the city further at your own pace, or add on one of our optional Buenos Aires experiences, just speak to your consultant.

Day 4 - Full Day Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

Cross the River Plate by ferry for a full day exploring Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay's charming 17th century Portuguese settlement. Wander the cobbled streets of the historic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site reminiscent of old Lisbon, before enjoying time at leisure ahead of your return to Buenos Aires.

Day 5 - Iguazu Falls

Transfer to Buenos Aires Domestic Airport for your flight to Puerto Iguazú, where you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 6 - Iguazu Falls

A full day exploring the Argentine National Park, including a jungle train ride to the thunderous Devil's Throat, and walks along the Upper and Lower Trails for close up views of the falls amid lush tropical scenery.

Day 7 - Iguacu and Rio

A half day tour of the Brazilian side of the falls, offering sweeping panoramic views, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Transfer to your Rio Hotel, before Sunset at Arpoador and dinner at Garota de Ipanema. In the late afternoon your guide will collect you from the hotel for a short drive to Arpoador, a rock outcrop with views across Ipanema, Leblon and the Dois Irmãos mountains, and a popular spot to watch the sunset over the Atlantic. Afterwards, walk along the beachfront to Garota de Ipanema, the restaurant that inspired the bossa nova song The Girl from Ipanema, for a relaxed menu of Brazilian dishes before returning to the hotel.

Day 8 - Rio de Janeiro

City tour, Carnival exhibition and Sugarloaf Mountain at sunset A guided walking tour takes in the historic centre of Rio de Janeiro, including colonial streets, landmarks and squares connected to the city's history as Brazil's former capital. The tour continues with a visit exploring the history, costumes, music and craftsmanship behind Rio Carnival, followed by lunch at Cais do Oriente, set in a restored historic building in the city centre. In the afternoon you will travel to Sugarloaf Mountain, taking the cable car up for sunset views over Guanabara Bay, the Atlantic coastline and the city. The full day tour runs for around 8 hours.

Day 9 - Rio de Janeiro

Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer, lunch at Carretão Ipanema Visit Corcovado Mountain, travelling up through the Tijuca Forest on the historic cogwheel train to the Christ the Redeemer statue, with views from the summit over Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach and the surrounding hills. Lunch follows at Carretão Ipanema, a traditional churrascaria offering grilled meats alongside a buffet of salads and hot dishes, a relaxed and authentic Brazilian barbecue experience. The tour runs for around 6 hours.

Afternoon at leisure The rest of the day is free to relax by the beach.

Day 10 - Rio de Janerio

Day 11 - Homeward

Enjoy time in Rio before the transfer to the airport. Speak to your consultant for information on extending the trip to the beaches of Búzios or Paraty, both accessible from Rio by road transfer.
