Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, it’s the second deepest lake in the USA (beaten only by Crater Lake in Oregon) and its beautiful blue waters mirror the big sky above. In 1960 Lake Tahoe hosted the Winter Olympics, firmly establishing it as one of North America’s premier ski resorts but, despite this, it has managed to maintain a sense of rustic charm and pioneer spirit.

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, straddling the border of California and Nevada. It’s known for its beaches, ski resorts and hiking trails, making it a year-round destination.
On the southwest shore, Emerald Bay State Park is renowned for its shimmering greens, turquoise and blue hues against the dramatic mountain backdrop of the lakes west shore. It also contains the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm.
Along the lake’s northeast side, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park includes Sand Harbour Beach and Spooner Lake, a gateway to the long-distance Tahoe Rim Trail, a 165 mile circuit including high vistas, alpine lakes and lush meadows.
