Rovos Rail with Kruger Safari & Cape Town

Day 1 - Johannesburg

Arrive in Johannesburg, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 - Kruger National Park

Transfer back to the airport for a morning flight to Kruger. On arrival transfer to you hotel in time for the afternoon game drive, followed by dinner.

Day 3 - Kruger National Park

Enjoy a full day at Kruger. Morning and afternoon game drives are included. Between game drives you can partake of a delicious lunch, relax by the pool or go for a bush walk.

Day 4 - Kruger National Park

Enjoy a full day at Kruger. Morning and afternoon game drives are included. Between game drives you can partake of a delicious lunch, relax by the pool or go for a bush walk.

Day 5 - Kruger - Pretoria

After your morning game drive and breakfast, transfer back to the airport for the return flight to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg transfer to Pretoria for the night, before boarding the train.

Day 6 - Rovos Rail

Rovos day 1 - Pretoria

11:00 Depart Rovos Rail Station, Pretoria. Travel across the goldfields of the Witwatersrand. Guests may freshen up in their suites before joining fellow travellers in the lounge car and observation car.

13:00 Lunch is served in the dining cars.

16:30 Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars.

19:30 Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Kingswood.

Overnight on board. Dress: Formal

Day 7 - Rovos Rail

Rovos day 2 - Kimberley

07:00 Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00. Disembark for a tour of Kimberley, the Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole. Capital of the Northern Cape, Kimberley is well known for the discovery of diamonds that led to its establishment in 1871.

13:00 Lunch is served in the dining cars. The train travels through the Karoo.

16:30 Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars.

19:30 Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Gemsbok.

Overnight on board. Dress: Formal

Day 8 - Rovos arrival in Cape Town

Rovs day 3 - Matjiesfontein

07:00 Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00. During breakfast, there is a chance for guests to disembark the train at Whitehill Siding and walk the 5km into Matjiesfontein. A member of staff will accompany the group. Comfortable walking shoes are essential.

Disembark at Matjiesfontein for an opportunity to stroll through the historic village. Of special interest is the museum on the platform and a collection of historic cars and railway carriages to the right of the Lord Milner Hotel.

About an hour after Matjiesfontein, the train arrives at the first of four tunnels on the pass. The first tunnel is 13.5km long so guests are to be careful when walking through the train and may wish to turn on necessary lights.

13:00 Lunch is served in the dining cars. The train climbs ±750m down the escarpment through the Hex River Valley.

16:30 Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars.

18:00 The train arrives at journey’s end: Platform 24 at Cape Town Station.

Day 9 - Cape Town

Spend a full day od leisure exploring Cape Town at your own pace. Ask your consutant for information on the many day trips and excursions available. 

Day 10 - Cape Town

Spend a full day od leisure exploring Cape Town at your own pace. Ask your consutant for information on the many day trips and excursions available. 

Day 11 - Cape Town

Enjoy some free time in Cape Town until the transfer to the airport, where this tour concludes.
