Holiday Overview
The state of Victoria, Australia, has a lot more to offer than the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne. Its coastline and national parks offer rich pickings for wildlife and breath-taking nature beauty. As you take the scenic circuit back to Melbourne you will visit the Morning Peninsula for artisan produce and its coastal towns. After a short ferry ride across the Victoria Bight you will be joining some of the Great Ocean Road as you visit Apollo Bay and Port Fairy. A sharp right will take you inland to trek, walk or saunter in the hills of Grampian National Park before driving onward through the gold rush town of Ballarat and returning to Melbourne.

Day 1 - Arrive Melbourne

Day 4 - Melbourne - Mornington Peninsula
Collect your car and take the short drive to the Mornington Peninsula, perhaps visit one of areas vineyards and sample the artisan produce, alternatively enjoy the pretty beaches and coastal towns.
Day 5 - Mornington Peninsula - Apollo Bay
Catch the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff and embark along the first section of the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay.
Day 6 - Apollo Bay - Port Fairy
Enjoy a full day along the Great Ocean Road, just east of Apollo Bay the twelve Apostles await, a series of 150-foot limestone pillars protruding from the ocean. Before arriving at Port Fairy, perhaps stop at the Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, this dormant volcanic crater is now a natural habitat for Kangaroos, Koalas and Emus.
Day 7 - Port Fairy - Grampians National Park
Turn inland and continue to the Grampian National Park. Well known for its trails, waterfalls and wildlife.
Day 8 - Grampians National Park
Spend a full day enjoying the Grampian’s, whilst the scenic beauty and wildlife in this area are a massive pull, there are also galleries, vineyards and award-winning restaurants waiting to be discovered.
Day 9 - Grampians National Park - Ballarat
Next stop is Ballarat, a town that boomed during an 1850’s gold rush. Visit the open air museum of Sovereign Hill to get a better understanding of the areas history.
Day 10 - Ballarat - Melbourne
Take the short drive back to Melbourne airport for your onward flight, where the self drive concludes.
