Holiday Overview
The historic Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is an inviting, family-style wilderness lodge nestled within Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, Bella Coola, BC. It is situated on 60 acres of pristine wilderness land with access to a variety of summer recreational opportunities. Originally built in 1929 as a hunting lodge, it was rebuilt in 1952 to accommodate those seeking out a more eco-friendly adventure.
The lodge is well known for its friendly environment and the calming effect it has on those who visit. After a big day of outdoor activities, guests can relax in front of two huge fireplaces, enjoy our new spa facility, soak in the outdoor hot tub, or simply retire to the lodge deck for drinks before dinner. Enjoy the mountain views and keep your eyes open for the local wildlife, including Grizzly Bears and Black Bears which may lumber past on the lawn.
There are 10 chalets and cabins in total, most of which have queen beds and log burning stoves. The cabins range from the simple ‘fisherman’s cottages’ to the more luxuriously finished chalets that have wonderful views and a really homely feel to them. All guests can make use of the new spa facility (treatments must be booked in advance) and soak in the outdoor hot tub after a big day of Bella Coola adventures. Then retire to the lodge deck to sip a drink before dinner, where you can peacefully enjoy glimpses of the wildlife and breathtaking mountain views of the 8,000 foot rock peak aptly named Mount Stupendous.
Amenties include : Large living room/dining room with fireplace; sports bar with fireplace, billards table, games and satellite TV; new spa facility with hot tub, saune, washrooms, stretching, yoga and massage areas; electric and mountain bikes; WiFi in all chalets and retail boutique.

Day 2 - Wildlife Viewing
Wake up early and wander down to our Wildlife Viewing Station, which is for the exclusive use. Early morning is a great time to spot bears and the raised structure provides open lines of sight both up and down the river. After breakfast it’s time to head out for a Guided Nature Walk in the old growth forests of Tweedsmuir Park, the largest provincial park in British Columbia. Your guide, a naturalist, will show you how to track the bears and will point out various bear signs, including rub trees with claw and bite marks, and places the bears dig out in the forest floor for their naps called day beds. A picnic lunch will be served in the field. In the afternoon, continue exploring Tweedsmuir Park with a drive on the Tote Road past old, abandoned homesteads brimming with character. At the end of the road there is a short, highly recommended hike to Stillwater Lake. This is a beautiful, pristine place that should not be missed! (Breakfast, lunch & dinner is included today)
