Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is reached by a 45-minute transfer from Bella Coola Airport, deep in the Bella Coola Valley on the edge of the Great Bear Rainforest. The lodge borders the Atanarko and Bella Coola rivers, with the peaks of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park – including the striking profile of Stupendous Mountain – rising all around. This is grizzly bear country: the valley is one of the best places in British Columbia to see bears fishing for salmon in autumn, and the surrounding wilderness of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, the largest protected park in the province, is right on the doorstep.
