Day 1 - UK to San Antonio

Arrive in San Antonio making your own way to your downtown hotel.

Welcome to San Antonio the culinary capital of Texas! In 2017 the city was awarded the Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO.

After settling into your hotel, take a stroll along the Riverwalk and Downtown and explore the variety of food options.

Day 2 - San Antonio

To kick off your culinary experience we recommend joining a local food tour by Food Chicks who offer a range of tours across the city including the famous Tex Mex. This iconic Texan cuisine is a mixture of traditional Mexican food mixed with European influences, San Antiono is the first record where this delicacy was first offered to a wide audience in the 1880s. You’re in the perfect place to try!

In the evening visit The Pearl home to live South Texas music including jazz, blues, swing and salsa. Enjoy fantastic food and drink as you watch some local artists.

Day 3 - San Antonio

Today we recommend taking a river cruise this allows you to explore the city’s charm and culture. Afterwards visit Tower of the Americas to get a 360 view across the city from the observation deck or from the Chart House restaurant.

Alternatively explore the city in style in Vespa powered sidecar, let the wind blow through your hair as you discover the streets of San Antonio.

Day 4 - San Antonio

Spend today learning more about San Antonio’s history. Begin with a tour underground to Texas biggest underground caves, on this tour follow in the footsteps of the original explorers in the 1960s as you are guided through the caves with only a lantern leading the way. You will be amazed at these magnificent natural wonders as you learn more about how the caves where found.

Take a tour of the Alamo and learn more about the Texas Revolution. Originally built in 1718 known as the Mission San Antonio de Valero, later becoming the battleground in 1836 during the Battle of Alamo where Texans and Santa Anna’s Troops from Mexico fought over who would own this land. Learn more about the history of the Alamo exploring artifacts, hidden streets and enjoy demonstrations of this historical past.

Day 5 - San Antonio

Enjoy more of San Antonio food and drink, visit ReRooted 210 a local winery where you can enjoy tasting a range of wines available as you learn more about the flavours and creation of the wine.

Return to San Antiono’s Tex Mex routes and enjoy a taco tasting walking tour. Learn about the ingredients, the chef’s and the cultural influences which makes each restaurant unique.

Day 6 - San Antonio

For some thrill take a visit to Six Flags theme park home to a variety of roller coaster for all level of thrill seekers. Or spend the day relaxing, exploring the city at your own pace.

Day 7 - San Antonio to Fredericksburg

Today make the drive to Fredericksburg north of San Antonio. The town of Fredericksburg has lots of German influence from the historic buildings to the German cuisine this town offers something special for visitors to enjoy.

Day 8 - Fredericksburg

Explore Fredericksburg at your own pace, enjoy visits to the local wineries and breweries tasting the variety of locally crafted wine and beers. Taste a variety of local cuisine including German with a variety of choices from traditional German dishes to modern dishes.

Day 9 - Fredericksburg

Spend today exploring the town of Fredericksburg.

Day 10 - Fredericksburg to UK

Today marks the end of your Taste of Texas tour, make your way back to the airport returning your car hire for your onward flight home.
