Montagu has been nicknamed the ‘mountain mecca’ of the Cape and is in between Cape Town and the ostrich capital, Oudsthoorn. Montagu is famous for its orchards, vineyards, interesting rock formations as well as the healing hot mineral springs and is the ideal getaway from the modern world

The town is also like taking a trip back in time and has some of the best examples of a late Victorian agricultural village and has some exquisitely preserved examples of Cape Dutch and Georgian national monuments. The hot springs are a drawcard for Montagu and a winding walk called, Lovers Walk, takes you through cliffs to the springs. There are also a number of adventure activities designed to get the blood flowing from mountain biking and kloofing to paragliding and abseiling.
