George is the sixth oldest town in South Africa, situated in the beautiful Western Cape Province and is the Capital of the Southern Cape. Like The Slave Tree, an ancient English Oak planted by Landdrost van Kervel. Known as the Slave Tree because of the very large chain and lock embedded in the trunk, it has been declared a national monument. And the King Edward VII Library building is said to be the best example of Edwardian architecture in George.
Wilderness lies in the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains and is a place of natural inspiration. It is renowned for its vast stretches of beach, it’s small town hospitality and warmth as well as its recreational activities. This verdant paradise offers the avid traveller hiking, mountain-biking, bird watching, dolphin and whale watching, paragliding, horse-riding and several other water sports. The most famous vantage point is called the ‘Map of Africa’ where you will be able to take in breath-taking scenery of forests, lakes, mountains and coastline. For those wishing to plug into the natural connection, the Woodville Big Tree is over 800 years old and is an idyllic location for a picnic.
