Hanging bridges and quiet trails lead into the canopy, where the iridescent green of a Resplendent Quetzal might catch your eye, or the metallic call of the three wattled bellbird ring out through the trees. After dark, guided night walks reveal a different world: glass frogs on leaves, tarantulas at the mouths of their burrows, sleeping birds tucked into the branches. Down in the valleys, family farms produce coffee and cheese, a legacy of the Quaker settlers who arrived in the early 1950s. A visit here feels like stepping into the clouds themselves.
