Mystic Experiences

Settled in 1654, Mystic was once a shipbuilding seaport village and a safe harbour for tall ships to weather a storm.  Today, the shoreline community with iconic Bascule Bridge is reminiscent of its rich maritime past but clad with quintessential New England charm. Old sea captain’s homes dot the scenic roads along the Mystic River just outside of Downtown’s booming food and drink scene.

Below is a small selection of the tours we can organise for you when you have booked your USA holiday with us and are visiting Mystic.

Visit a National Historic Landmark that isn’t just a museum. Family-owned and operated since 1881, B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill is a piece of living history. Every September 1st, the mill opens its doors and sells sweet cider, hard cider, wine, cider donuts, and many local goods. They craft sweet cider and hard ciders the same way that generations before have perfected. Enjoy cider-making demonstrations, wine and hard cider tastings, and the renowned cider donuts while making your own new traditions.

At Clyde’s, take a step back in time and watch the steam-powered press in action. They press as needed, but you are always welcome to take a peek inside and look around the building. In store, theyoffer fresh-pressed cider, renowned cider donuts, and many local and handmade goods. Grab some honey from a local beekeeper, or enjoy caramel apples made by a member of the owners family. On weekends, the mill also offers fresh kettle corn, hard cider tastings and selling the mills original hard cider directly out of the cellar.

B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill Highlights

  • Enjoy different treats and alcoholic beverages from sweet and hard cider to baked confectionary goods
