Day 1 - UK to Saskatoon

Arrive in Saskatoon collect your car hire and make your way to your hotel. 

Welcome to Saskatoon! Saskatchewan’s largest city is described as the best of both worlds – dynamic urban energy in sync with nature. Saskatoon itself delights with its picturesque cityscape. Seven bridges cross the South Saskatchewan River, which meanders through the city, earning it the nickname “Paris of the Prairies.” In the evening, enjoy the sunset while strolling along the scenic riverside walks.

Day 2 - Wanuskewin Heritage Park

Today explore Wanuskewin Heritage Park a National Historic Site, a scared place where the cultures of the North Plains Indigenous People have been gathering for more than 6,400 years. Today the park aims to teach visitors about the cultures of the Indigenous People of Saskatchewan allow visitors to gain a better understanding of their rich history and culture. Visitors can enjoy a variety walking trails throughout the park including the Bison Viewing Trail where you can see the Bison as part of the Conservation or explore the visitors centre home to a variety of educational tool educating visitors of the history of the land.

Throughout the year there is a variety of events which take place. One highlight is Han Wi Moon Dinner which is designed to delight the senses and celebrate the Northern Plains of the people, landscape, ingredients, and culture. Beginning with a guided walking tour of the site where you will learn about the culture and history of the land continuing to Tipi Village where you will be served your meal finishing with dinner overlooking South Saskatchewan Dinner and Opimihaw River.

Day 3 - Saskatoon to La Reata Ranch (233km)

Today’s drive takes you through the rolling prairies along to southern Saskatchewan to La Reata Ranch a working cattle ranch located on Lake Diefenbaker in Kyle where guests can immerse themselves in the Canadian Cowboy lifestyle. There is a variety of activities to enjoy, walk along Lake Diefenbaker where you can take part in swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing and waterskiing. Keep an lookout for local wildlife you may spot including deer, coyotes, fox and golden eagle.

In the evening enjoy a game of horseshoes or visit the La Reata Saloon where there is a pool table, foosball and darts, here you can also enjoy some country music or sit outside for some star gazing. End the night around the campfire toasting marshmallows for a midnight snack. (campfires may be limited due to draught conditions)

Day 4 - La Reata Ranch

On your second day at La Reata Ranch enjoy some horse riding! After a hearty breakfast it’s time to saddle up and check the heard explore the ranch property. All guests can participate in cattle and ranch work including checking cows including having to move the heard.

Beginners will be provided with some basic western horse ride training and guests who want can have lessons on handling rope work with cattle or try a barrel race.

Day 5 - La Reata Ranch

Another full day at La Reta Ranch.

Day 6 - La Reata Ranch to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park (317km)

This morning depart La Reata Ranch and drive to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park filled with towering hills, lush forests and fescue prairie land. Guests can enjoy exploring the great outdoors by participating in variety of local activities including canoeing, fishing, boating, birdwatching or enjoying a hike around the various nature trails. (Activities are bookable locally)

Day 7 - Explore Maple Creek

Enjoy a day of exploring. The “Hidden” Conglomerate Cliffs are well worth the hike for the great photo opportunities. We recommend visiting Fort Walsh National Historic Site transports visitors back in time to the 1870s. Take a guided tour of the fort and hear the stories and legends from this fascinating period in Canadian history. For a taste of cowboy culture, drive to Maple Creek, which was named Canada’s Greatest Western Town in 2014. Explore the streets of Maple Creek enjoy visiting local shops or enjoy something to eat at the local restaurants and cafes.

Day 8 - Maple Creek to Moose Jaw (342km)

Moose Jaw is, by far, one of the friendliest cities in Canada. Its downtown is characterized by heritage buildings, boutique-style shops, and unique attractions that examine the city’s fascinating history. The Tunnels of Moose Jaw are actual tunnels beneath downtown streets that, according to legend, were a hangout for the infamous gangster Al Capone during the Prohibition era. (Tour not included) Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa is famous for its natural geo-thermal mineral pool. 

Day 9 - Explore Moose Jaw

A full day to explore the sights of Moose Jaw.

Day 10 - Moose Jaw to Regina (71km)

Travel to Regina the capital of Saskatchewan! Home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The iconic Mountie in red serge is Canada’s most recognized symbols, next to the Maple Leaf flag. The Wascana Centre and Victoria Park are some of the cities highlights and create place to visit.

Day 11 - RCMP Heritage Centre

Today we have included admission to the RCMP Heritage Centre. Visit the galleries to explore over a century of RCMP history, from the formation of the North-West Mounted Police in 1873, to the modern-day Mountie. Guests of the RCMP Heritage Centre can experience both the historical and modern-day stories of the RCMP through a variety of traditional and state-of-the-art exhibits, a virtual and augmented reality experiences, and live events.

The Centre is located on RCMP Academy, Depot Division land, where Mounties have trained since 1885. The Heritage Centre is operated by a non-profit organization and supported by the RCMP’s Historical Collections Unit.

Day 12 - Regina to UK

Check out of your Regina hotel, returning your car hire at the airport before boarding your onward flight home.
