The Lodge itself was constructed in 2002 and sits on a superb rural site with rolling grasslands and has commanding views out across Lake Te Anau. Inside the open architecture of the Lodge reflects the vastness of the Fiordland National Park and echoes of the forest are found in the striking natural timber construction. In the lounge, a latticework of huge log trusses soar to over thirty-six feet above and surround a large open fire, clad with local river stone.
Fiordland Lodge will be your exclusive retreat while you get the opportunity to discover one of the world's most beautiful areas. It is an area where snow-capped mountains, rivers of ice, deep lakes, unbroken forests and tussock grasslands produce a landscape of exceptional beauty.
At Fiordland Lodge, a maximum of 27 guests are accommodated in 10 luxurious rooms in the Lodge and two separate self-contained loft-style Log Cabins. Accommodation features king-size beds, well-appointed private bathrooms and superb views, and the decor reflects the beautiful Fiordland landscape, focusing on muted natural colours and textures. The log cabins provide secluded accommodation for a maximum of five guests separate to the main lodge. All ten accommodation options have commanding views over Lake Te Anau, and external access out onto either the balcony upstairs, or the lawn downstairs.
Fiordland Lodge offers the discerning traveller style, comfort and privacy, yet is only five kilometres from the tourist township of Te Anau. Set on a superb site with commanding views out across Lake Te Anau this is a rural setting with rolling grass lands surrounding the Lodge, Lake Te Anau being a mere ten minute walk away. Across the lake to the west lie the mountains of Fiordland National Park, an area of over three million acres of untouched wilderness and part of the much larger South West New Zealand World Heritage Area.
The lunch dining experience is unique to the area, both on the plate and throughout the restaurant environment. Guests will experience a connection to Fiordland through the land and from the ocean through dishes that focus on freshness, simplicity, and seasonal produce.
