The town of Wawa gets its name from the Ojibway language meaning wild goose. In Wawa you can visit the town’s mascot the giant goose statue perched on a rock at the junction of the highway, welcoming visitors, make sure to get a picture with the goose!

Wawa is located in the Algoma District on Wawa Lake, east of Lake Superior. The town of Wawa has history dating back to the fur trading days and has served as a hub for forestry, mining, and boat building industries. Today Wawa is the perfect destination for fishing, kayaking on Lake Superior and endless snowmobile trails.
