The Blue Mountains is a rugged region west of Sydney in Australia’s New South Wales. The Blue Mountains are known for its dramatic scenery, steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests, waterfalls and unique villages.

Some of the towns located in the Blue Mountains include Leura, known for its gardens and chic vibe, and Faulconbridge, site of the Corridor of Oaks planted by successive Australian Prime Ministers. Natural attractions in the area range from tiered Wentworth Falls to the illuminated Jenolan Caves, filled with stalactites, stalagmites and underground rivers. The Blue Mountains named for the eucalyptus haze over them also encompass Wollemi National Park, known for its wild rivers and rare Wollemi pine. The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden at Mt.Tomah features an example of this tree along with several exotic species.


See the Three Sisters rock formation from Echo Point Lookout at Katoomba; it’s also the gateway to many walking trails. Board the world’s steepest passenger railway and descend into an ancient rainforest with Scenic World Blue Mountains. Or get a panoramic view of the mountains from a glass-floored cable car suspended above a steep gorge. Explore one of the world’s finest and oldest cave systems at the Jenolan Caves, in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains. You’ll be filled with wonder on your journey through the 11 show caves, underground rivers and amazing rock formations.
