Century old Malbec vines wrap around Finca Adalgisa, a family run manor in Chacras de Coria, a sleepy village twenty minutes outside Mendoza. This finca has a working vineyard with olive and fruit trees where the harvest happens outside your window rather than somewhere off in the distance. Eleven rooms sit across two buildings, the old stone Casa Vieja and the newer Casa de Piedra, each one unique, each with a king bed and private bathroom, some with a terrace or fireplace of their own. Thick stone walls keep the old rooms naturally cool, no air conditioning needed, just shuttered light and quiet.

Evenings belong to the wine bar, where the Finca's own Malbec is poured alongside tapas for guests only, often followed by an asado sizzling on the grill. A small pool sits among the vines, the Andes rising snow capped in the distance on a clear day. By day, the village of Chacras de Coria is an easy stroll away, its square lined with cafés and restaurants, while further afield the wineries and vineyards of Mendoza's wine route wait to be explored. This is not a hotel dressed up to look like a home. It is a home, three generations deep, that happens to welcome guests.
